Quincey Nielson is entering their fourth year at Georgia Institute of Technology for their bachelors in solid Earth and planetary science. They are EarthScope’s Summer 2024 Alaska Field Engineer Career Intern.
This summer, EarthScope hosted seven students as part of the International Undergraduate Internship for Seismology and Geodesy Skills Building. Interns from six different countries spent the summer working virtually on a seismology or geodesy research project.
Bailey Fitzgerald is a fourth year PhD student at Ohio State University studying the relationship between earthquakes and underwater landslides. This summer Bailey has been selected to participate in the Student Career Internship program as a science communication intern.
This summer Danielle is working with Dr. Sharon Bywater-Reyes of University of Northern Colorado on measuring and mapping the topography of St. Vrain Creek in northern Colorado.
Yair Franco is from San Francisco and is a junior geophysics major at the University of California, Berkeley. This summer, Yair is participating in the URISE internship program researching seismology.
Luise Gleason is originally from Germany and is currently attending the University of California, Santa Barbara as an Earth science major. Luise is spending the summer in Boulder, Colorado while participating in the RESESS internship program.
Katelyn Fredrick is originally from Mississippi but is currently attending Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, Colorado as a geology major. This summer, Katelyn is using her knowledge of chemistry to investigate the mineralogy of the Lemitar Carbonites in the Lemitar Mountains, New Mexico.
