GeoLab Notebook Hub

GeoLab is a JupyterHub available for community use for data analysis and education. To learn more about our efforts around cloud computing, visit our Cloud Data Systems page.

By launching GeoLab, you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and Acceptable Use Policy.

Basic Information

How do I get started?

All you need is an EarthScope User Account to launch GeoLab. For a detailed guide, see the Getting Started section of our documentation.

Is there a cost to use GeoLab?

GeoLab use is provided at no cost. To help us keep costs controllable, each user has a usage quota with a rolling 30-day window. If you hit your quota, you can request an increase with a brief explanation of your use case.

What are the storage limits?

Each user will have up to 50GB of available storage in their home directory. Please note that data in each user’s home directory (jovyan) will be deleted after 6 months of inactivity.

Documentation and Support

Detailed how-to information (such as package management) can be found in our GeoLab Documentation. If you need technical support, contact the Help Desk for assistance.

To ask scientific data workflow questions and share knowledge with your colleagues, visit our GeoLab Community Forum. You can log in using your EarthScope User Account to post.

The GeoLab infrastructure is managed by 2i2c in collaboration with EarthScope and based on JupyterHub, supporting Jupyter notebooks, RStudio instances, and more.
