Kaissa Inzunza Fonseca, who goes by Kai for short, studies environmental planning at Central New Mexico College. This summer, Kaissa is working with a team in New Mexico to build a data collection on the local aquifer that’s accessible to the public.

Leah is a URISE intern and a rising senior at University of Texas at El Paso studying geophysics. This summer she will be using data from the South California Earthquake Catalog, SCEC, and will be focusing on the year of 2019 as this is when the Ridgecrest earthquakes occurred.

Anah Bogdan is a URISE intern entering her fourth year at SUNY Potsdam with a double major in math and geology. This summer, working with Dr. Heather Ford at UC Riverside to determine where the Moho boundary is beneath the Los Angeles Basin.

Rori Kgoadi is a RESESS intern spending the summer in Boulder, Colorado. This summer, Rori is working on a project that explores metal transport into Colorado streams via groundwater dynamics.

Jackson Fellows is an URISE intern entering his third year at Cornell University studying Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. This summer, he is working on a project using data collected from the Alaska Amphibious Community Seismic Experiment.

K.C. is a GLP intern spending her summer in Boulder, CO. She is working to extract zircons from the impact layer that killed the dinosaurs.

Nick is a Geo-Launchpad intern from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This summer, Nick’s project incorporates his interests in forestry, hydrology, and geochemistry.

Niah Tyler, who goes by Tyler, is a RESESS intern in Sorocco, New Mexico. This summer, Tyler is working on a project that utilizes a machine learning program called GrowClust to locate earthquake hypocenters, allowing for a better understanding of where these faults are located.

The hands-on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) Field Experience was held at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, gathering participants for intensive work exploring this exciting technology and the observations it enables.
