Authentication
The NSF National Geophysical Facility (NGF) operated by EarthScope Consortium is transitioning to authenticated access (known as Identity Management or IdM) for nearly all of our data and services.

EarthScope is transitioning to a common Identity Management (IdM) system that provides secure access to an expanding collection of tools, data services, and community resources across the NSF NGF.
Creating a free EarthScope account gives you a single identity for accessing supported applications today while laying the foundation for additional capabilities as new services are introduced.
One Account Across EarthScope
Sign in once to access supported EarthScope applications and services using a single account. As additional systems adopt Identity Management, you’ll be able to use the same credentials across more of the EarthScope ecosystem.
Access to Protected Resources
Some EarthScope data, applications, documentation, training resources, and community services require authentication. An account ensures you can access these resources whenever authentication is required.
Improved Services
Your account allows EarthScope to better understand how our community uses our services so we can improve reliability, usability, and future development. As additional capabilities become available, your account will support more personalized experiences and streamlined access to the resources most relevant to your work.
Support for the Scientific Community
Authentication helps EarthScope better measure the impact of the facilities and services we operate on behalf of the National Science Foundation. Understanding how our resources are used helps us prioritize improvements, demonstrate community impact, and continue delivering high-quality scientific infrastructure.
An Expanding Platform
Identity Management is an evolving service. Additional EarthScope applications, cloud services, APIs, and developer tools will continue to adopt single sign-on over time, providing a more connected and consistent experience across the NGF.
Your Privacy
EarthScope is committed to protecting your information. We collect only the information necessary to operate our services, improve the user experience, and meet our reporting obligations. Personal information is handled in accordance with the EarthScope Privacy Policy.
