Estimating Flash Flood Velocity from Video Observations
About Jayce (he/him)
Jayce Klein is a rising junior at the University of Colorado Boulder, transferring from
Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO. Pursuing a major in Geography, Physical
Concentration, and a minor in Chemistry, he plans to complete graduate studies in the field.
Fascinated with our world and its many processes since childhood, Jayce seeks to use his
education to comprehend the natural world and foster a better coexistence with it. Through
the Geo-Launchpad program, Jayce will be using particle tracking software to analyze flash
floods and determine their velocity within the Arroyo de los Pinos tributary of the Rio Grande.
He seeks to use this experience to widen his knowledge on Hydrology and explore different
opportunities within Earth Sciences.
