Initial Findings from the South Pole DAS Array Deployment

Date(s): April 11, 2024, 2-3p Eastern
Location: Virtual

Speaker: Zhongwen Zhan (California Institute of Technology)

In January 2023, we deployed Antarctica’s first continuous Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) array at the South Pole research station. An active-source seismic survey was carried out, after which the array was left to operate autonomously for the subsequent year. This presentation will discuss the early insights obtained, primarily from the data gathered during the active survey phase. Additionally, I will share the analysis from the extensive year-long dataset recently retrieved from Antarctica.
