In addition to the many other applications and products coming out of the NISAR mission, the project is producing a higher-level soil moisture product globally. Soil moisture is a key observable for efforts to understand fire risk, droughts, flood potential and agricultural productivity, as well as its role as an input into weather forecasts at a range of timescales. Soil moisture is also increasingly recognized as a large error source in studies of ground displacement. In this talk, I will cover the structure and generation of the product, as well as some of the potential crossover to interferometric studies.
