Andy began his career as an IRIS REU summer intern in 2003 and earned a Ph.D. deploying broadband seismometers in remote, scenic places to understand the structure and tectonic processes of the Earth beneath them. He now oversees the SAGE facility program for all portable seismic, magnetotelluric, and other subsurface sensing geophysical instruments. In his spare time he enjoys rotating delicious crops of tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, and corn through his suburban backyard garden, taking long walks in the central Appalachian Mountains with his friends and family, watching the Tampa Bay Rays, and brewing palatable honey wine.
