EarthScope is funded by the National Science Foundation and conducted in partnership with the US Geological Survey and NASA. inSights Newsletter Winter 2010 Issue
Welcome to the first issue of the inSights newsletter. The featured science article showcases recent discoveries about fault zone processes at the San Andreas Fault critically aided by the EarthScope facilities. Ongoing developments about the ARRA-funded MARGINS/EarthScope Cascadia initiative, an amphibious array, are presented. The Active Earth Display and its new modules are highlighted on the back.
onSite Newsletter Fall 2009 Issue
USArray contributions to Deep Earth studies are highlighted in the first featured science article. The other article provides insight into complex tectonic block motions in Southeast Alaska. NSF program director Greg Anderson encourages active participation in the process of updating the EarthScope Science Plan. A report about GPS work in Nevada's Walker Lane and a News section present additional EarthScope activities.
onSite Newsletter Summer 2009 Issue
The featured science articles cover exciting laboratory measurements on the frictional behavior of rocks in and near the San Andreas Fault from SAFOD and a regional scale look at the lithosphere beneath the western U.S. from receiver functions of Transportable Array seismic data.
